Creekmore Out!

She and her daughter will be at Christmas on Sunday. It's a step in the right direction so I got about 1/4 of my wish. :) I have invited her to dinner next week - just her and I - and we can talk in depth about the issues without family involvement/drama or distractions. I think it will be good - and hopefully some sort of good will come out of it. And we're going to Maggiano's so atleast we'll have italian food for days!

The office is closing at 3 today! (And I only got here at 11 because I had to stay at home to meet the telephone repair guy....)

Matt is landing in RIC tonight! So is Kristen! Cece is already here!

I rented the Devil Wears Prada and will watch it tonight while I bake -and while it's cold and rainy outside. While wearing flannel pants.

My friend Christy is coming over for a coffee at 4pm. And I might already be wearing those pants.

As much as I am dreading seeing some people at tomorrow night's Christmas event, I am looking forward to showing Stella off to those who have never met her (Even though I am MAD at them for showing no interest in her since her birth, I'm sure they'll be all over her tomorrow night and fight each other to hold her. And in the spirit of the holidays, I will forgive them.)

I don't have to be back at work until Tuesday - and this place will be DEAD for that whole week and I can work in peace and do stuff I've wanted to do for awhile like re-do files and other fun stuff.

I get to give Toby his Christmas present soon and I am very proud of it because he has NO IDEA and I know he'll love it.

This morning, while I was at home waiting for the telephone guy, I made 2 batches of cookies, one corn casserole, did a load of dishes, a load of Stella's laundry, and vacuumed. I feel good about going home to a semi-organized house.

And I'm going to do that right now - GO HOME!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!

I have a Christmas Wish.

Without going into too many details...the Creekmore family is dealing with an issue right now that is pretty hard and will be affecting the happiness of the holidays...so I just want to ask for some thoughts and prayers as they deal... A family member that we are very close with has made and continues to make BAD choices in her life and the family has "saved her" from her choices for years (which does not help her whatsoever, it just enables her to continue.) This week an incident happened and it was the straw that broke the camel's back. The family has finally told her "no more" and she has chosen to go with the bad side rather than her family. Therefore, we probably won't be having Christmas with her and her daughter which breaks my heart...but it's her choice. I hope she'll come around and realize WHO really loves her. I truly feel like she will come around - it will just take time. I'm leaving it in God's hands now because I am not equipped to handle this like He is.....

Gilbert Grape's Mom

That's who I am going to turn into if Toby doesn't get off this KFC job soon. Someone put a call in to Richard Simmons and tell him to block off his calendar for this time next year to come to my house and bulldoze a wall so the forklift can get me out.

Toby just called to tell me that he brough home several cases of biscuits and SIX PANS of Macaroni and Cheese.

Each pan is 4 lbs.

Update on my Out of Control-ness

So I was right. Writing things down helps. Last night I was pretty darn productive.

I ordered Phils to Go for dinner last night so before I left work, I picked up my dinner for 2 from the Company Store downstairs.

I got home at 5:30 and quickly went inside, put on flannel pants (because that makes everything better), unloaded the dryer with Stella's clothes, loaded the dryer with my clothes (that I had put in the washer that morning - smart me) and then I headed next door to pick up Miss Thing.

Hung out and chatted with mom and Dad for a few minutes before strolling the looooong 50 feet home. Got Stella into her swing and she fell asleep almost immediately.

Cleaned the kitchen, unloaded the dishwasher, loaded it with the couple dirty dishes from the sink, made 2 dips for tonight (see below), heated up dinner (bbq, cole slaw, beans) and Toby and I ate at the coffee table while watching The View (see below) which I had DVR'ed, as usual. (My husband REALLY loves me - he watches the View with me. After just minimal sighs and eye rolling.)

After dinner, I folded all of Stella's laundry and since she has 452,765,9245,562,345 outfits and just as many bibs, this takes awhile. Just as I put all her clothes away, the dryer buzzed. Unloaded my laundry and put it away. (Mine doesn't take as long because I have SHIT for a wardrobe these days.)

I pulled out all of the random plates and containers of cookies and candies I have made the past few weeks and put 2 of each kind into a cute little X-mas tin for gifts. I now have 8 full tins ready to go in the fridge in the garage. Baking Adventure 2006 = OVER AND OUT. (Do not look for a repeat next year. Unless it's Oreo Truffles - I love those.)

Next to tackle the dining room table which is PILED with gifts that need wrapping. And then decided I didn't want to tackle it. So I didn't.

I put everything in a nice neat stack in the corner and will apologize to my guests tonight about the "Christmas Corner" and they can just not look at it. So there.

Stella had started her "Billy Bob Thornton/Slingblade grunting" (see below) so I knew she was very very tired. I stole her from her Dad (who was in charge of feeding and entertaining for the evening) and we layed on the waterbed and caught up on the The View from the past few days...she fell asleep and after I layed with her and stared at her for about an hour, I put her in her crib and went to bed myself. I read the latest US Weekly and In Touch and caught up on the ever-important news regarding Britney and Paris....and then off to sleep feeling like I got some things accomplished and that I was somewhat IN CONTROL.

I have also decided that I am not allowed to go to any type of store other than Kroger for a long time. When I realize we need something or when we run out of something, I will add it to a running list and go to the store when there are enough items. No more "just running here for one thing" because that spells danger. I am going to "let go" of the fact that I spent a million dollars on duplicate wrapping paper, bows, and tags - atleast I won't have to buy any for the next few years.

I'm starting clearing my mind of all guilt and regret. Clean Slate Time!

Tonight: My old bosses (there are 5 of them) are all in town this week (they are each located in a different region of the country and I supported them from the HQ in Virginia...) They are in town for meetings so they are all coming to our house tonight for "happy hour" before they go out to dinner somewhere. Thus the dips. I'll have some appetizer thingies and I have beer and wine...and we'll just visit and catch up. I am really looking forward to it - I miss my boys!

The View: Why am I LOVING this show now? It's been on for 10 years and I never gave a crap about it. I started to DVR it to just see what Rosie was like...and I ended up really looking forward to watching it every evening. And the biggest shocker of all: I'm liking Rosie on it!! I was obsessed with her show when it was on...I scheduled college classes around it, no joke. But since that ended, and she got the flock of seagulls haircut, I kind of didn't dig her anymore. I don't really enjoy people who are militant about ANY issue. (Politics, sexual orientation, race, religion, whatever!) I like people who are strong in their beliefs but can also discuss it and be open minded and LISTEN to other people; even if they will never agree. I feel Rosie got rather militant there for awhile.... And minus the Clay Aiken/Kelly Ripa drama, she has been enjoyable on the View. She HAS her views - which are usually different than Elizabeth Hasselback's (she's rather conservative) but BOTH women listen to each other and TALK and I like that. And I feel a bit of the "old" Rosie is back - she IS funny.

Billy Bob Thornton/Slingblade Grunting: This is what Stella does when she is tired. I will have to video tape it and post it here. She grunts loud and long from about 7 - 7:30 everynight. We think she does this to try and keep herself awake because she really doesn't like to fall asleep. She cries and screams for about 2 minutes RIGHT before she falls asleep and then she is out like a light - until 8am (Thank you, God.) But that grunting session has become an every-night-occurance and it is absolutely hysterical. I love my girl! Even if she does sound like she's about to bust out "I love em french fried taters, mmmhmmm."

So, all is well. Life is great. Love to everyone.
Now I'm off to "work." ha.

A little X-mas bitching does a girl good.

I vented to Courtney in an e-mail about this topic and realized that I should blog about it because writing things down usually helps me to "wrap my head around it" and "touch base" and "check-in with myself." (I'm being funny. Or delirious. I hear corporate speak all the time and just tried to throw some in but it doesn't quite work for me...) ANYWAY....what I'm trying to say is...

I FEEL OUT OF CONTROL! Like I'm running around crazy and aimlessly with no clear direction.

Like Court said in an e-mail to the girls, "I am usually so on top of things." That's how I feel this year. Let me clarify - I am not upset. Life is wonderful and miraculous and better than ever...but I just feel out of control. Like I need to make lists all the time but I never do....I have so many "to-do's" floating around in my head that I never get to......I don't like this feeling.

Example 1: Money
I am running around town spending money like I have some. Living like a princess when I really am a pauper. Those baby clothes are cute, I'll get them. I NEED these picture frames. I think this would be the perfect time to refill my perfume for $35 and then run to Sephora for a new $38 bottle of Amazing Grace lotion! How about these shitty looking pants that are too tight? Throw em in the basket!! What the hell is my problem? It's like I have no control....and each trip to target is costing $75-$80 and that is at the LOW end of the spectrum. Stop it, Creekmore!

Example 2: Christmas Shopping
I got the bright idea to online shop this year. That was the BEST decision I have made in a long time. I shopped and it all showed up on my porch (well, everything except Toby's gift so far and I'm anxiously waiting for that because if it doesn't come, I'll have to blow up Amazon.) It's been SO great to avoid the stores. But I'm running into some issues - like MONEY (again.) I'm not that organized for some reason (gasp!) so I keep forgetting gifts and I have to run out to Target (see Example 1) and it's just all adding up. Actually, I don't know exactly how much it has added up because I refuse to actually do it. I'm scared.

Example 3: Bad Decisions (it's the money thing again....)
This weekend, Stella and I took a stroll through Old Navy. I told myself I would not buy anything (So why the hell did I go? who really just strolls Old Navy?) SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS LATER, I walk out with a mini-jeans skirt, her "chillin" outfit, a baby black fur coat (Cousin Amy I totally blame you for that one!), and a lot of gift tags and wrapping paper. Yes, I bought paper and tags at Old Navy - because I apparently bumped my head. First, they are horribly expensive when I should have just gone to CVS and bought it all for 99 cents. Second, I have CRAPLOADS of paper and tags in storage from last year. Why did I do that??? BECAUSE I AM OUT OF CONTROL.

Example 4: Baking
I also had a bright idea that for co-workers and such, I would BAKE. And put the fruits of my labor into cute little Christmas tins that I bought at Wal-Mart, thus saving money and time... Ummm - QUITE THE CONTRARY. For the past 3 damn weekends I've had baked goods looming over my head. I have tried to make these frickin batches of STUFF to have and I'll get one batch done and then get side-tracked....or I forget ingredients so I have to go back to the store to get those and end up spending 5 times what the cost of those are because of the extra stuff I "need"....there are piles of melting chocolate, powdered sugar, cake mixes, cream cheese blocks, etc in my kitchen. And they are all taunting me. This "bright" idea will NOT happen next year, I can tell you that.

Example 5: The house
I feel like all I do is load and unload the dishwasher. Like the movie Groundhog Day. Throw in my laundry and Stella's laundry and some swiffer vacuuming and some picking up Toby's shit and you pretty much describe a lot of my free time. I will say this: THANK GOD for the garage because if Toby didn't have that for his BIG shit, it would be SO much worse.

And isn't that what the season is about? Counting your blessings. Of which I have a plethora (Three Amigos, anyone?)

So, thanks for letting me vent. I feel a bit more "in control." And I feel VERY VERY VERY LUCKY that this is really all I have to bitch about.

Merry Christmas!!

Christmas Me-Me

Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Neither - I'll have coffee.

Colored lights on tree/house or white? White

Do you hang mistletoe? No

When do you put your decorations up? It will be Thanksgiving weekend from now on! It was so nice and leisurely this year - and we can enjoy it for a whole month.

What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Brocolli Casserole with the Ritz crackers on top

Favorite Holiday memory as a child: My brother and I getting up early and my parents not letting us go downstairs until they had both gone to the bathroom and brushed their teeth - basically they would dilly dally and get us all worked up.

When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I think it just evolved... one year I did, one year I tried to convince myself I did believe, and the next year I knew the truth...I don't remember an EVENT where I found out.

Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? My brother and I have always exchanged our gifts on Christmas Eve. As kids, my parents used to let us open one gift from them which was always nice pajamas. That is one of the traditions I'm going to continue with Stella.

How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? This year it's all silver and glass...Every year since birth, Nanny has given us grandkids an ornament she painted with our name and the year painted on too. I will soon go through the boxes at Mom and Dad's and collect all of my ornamants and Toby's 4 ornaments - and I'm sure Stella will get one this year - and those will be on our tree next year.

Snow! Love it or Dread it? Love it if it's enough to where there is NO WAY I can get to work and I get to stay home in my flannel pajamas and not feel guilty about missing work.

Can you ice skate? No way. I wouldn't even try - I'd break my neck!

Do you remember your favorite gift? I don't really have one major gift that was my favorite. As a child, I guess it was "Libby Elly" my cabbage patch kid. As an adult, the necklace Toby gave me our first x-mas dating...it was a chain and one side was silver and one was gold because he wasn't sure which I prefered.

What's the most important thing about the winter holidays for you? Family gatherings

What is your favorite Christmas dessert? my mom's mini-pecan pies.

What is your favorite holiday tradition? When my Dad put up the Christmas Tree he HAD to listen to the 70's funk band, Tower of Power. My Mom used to get so irritated that he wouldn't listen to Christmas Music - but then it turned into a Taylor Family tradition. He did this until I moved out.

What tops your tree? Star

Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? Giving - I love to think about people's gifts.

What is your favorite Holiday Song? I like "Grown up Christmas List" by Amy Grant even though it makes me cry. Most Christmas music makes me cry!! I also like "Carol of the Bells" and "O Holy Night" and the one that goes "Lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you..." I love listening to Lite 98 between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Candy Canes? No - they pull my fake teeth out. Yes, I am 80.

Fave Christmas Movie? DUH!! A Christmas Story!!!! (My entire family can quote this movie by heart. Just start any line and we'll finish it - especially Preston! "My father wove a tapestry of obsenities...............")

Ringy Dingy

I joined the 21st Century. I got a new phone.

(Prevous phone was purchased in 1999 - no joke. One step up from the BAG PHONE with the coiled phone cord.)

But this one is a razor phone - and it's pink!

And it has a camera!

And can download songs!

(Now if I could just figure out how to use the darn thing.)

KFC For Me!

I joined Weight Watchers again last night! Yay for me! I'm getting back into the swing of a healthy lifestyle and taking care of myself and all that jazz....

So, I pull up to my house and there is my lovely husband - and KFC galore. And by KFC galore, I don't mean a big bucket of original recipe. I mean this:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

You see, my husband is an electrician and they are currently demolishing a KFC. They were told to take whatever food they wanted...so now we have enough mashed potato mix, gravy mix, baked beans, green beans, and green bean seasoning to last a lifetime.

So yeah, did I mention I just started WW again?

Toby did get a kick out of taking TONS of it to the neighbors who have young kids...and then to the neighbors on the other side (AKA: Mom and Dad). It was sweet to see him so excited about sharing his good fortune. The pictures are of the food that was left AFTER he shared.

Did I mention that I started WW again? Talk about GOOD TIMING!!

(For the readers located in R,VA - if you would like your own personal collection of
KFC food products, feel free to contact me at any time. Please. Please.)

Good-bye, my talking friend.

The Cleaning Lady that I bitch/blog about all the time got fired.

Now I feel bad. But I shouldn't because it was her own doing. She wasn't doing her job (like clean) because of all the talking! She just would roll her cart around and stop and talk talk talk and maybe empty our trashcans. (Actually, she wouldn't even empty it - if there was only a few things in it, she would dig her hands in it and pull the stuff out so she wouldn't have to exert the energy to change the bag. I hated that!!)

So when her supervisor, Joyce, (who is AWESOME) came up here the other day to look at our cubes, she took one look at mine, swiped her finger across the top of my computer and looked at the dust, and said "oh hellll no!" She then went to all the cubes in the area one-by-one and I could hear "oh hellll no" several more times........

Next thing I know, Cleaning Lady is no long with us.

It's a horrible time of year to lose your job. While I am glad that I do not have to deal with her anymore, I am so sorry she lost her job. I really am. So I would like to say a little prayer for Cherry (no joke) and her family and I hope she finds another job soon. Maybe one where she can be on the phone all day or something...

Good Luck, Cherry!
