Breaking News: I'm an idiot!
I am an idiot. A big fat idiot!! I mean, why didn't anyone ever tell me?!?!?! I was thinking about stupid stuff I've done, things I said, things I WORE (Good God -that's where I have the most charges against me...) And I just CRINGE. Like there is anything I can do about it now... But this is the kind of stuff that will keep me up at night!!
I mean, AT THE TIME, I thought I was the bee's knees. (What the hell does that mean anyway?) But really, I thought I was SO COOL. What was I smoking? (Don't answer that!)
Anyway, I had to FORCE my mind to go elsewhere and not dwell on that stuff right now!! All of my memories - esp of college - are treasured and I really would not change a thing... but DANG! How embarassing!!
If I knew you back then and we are still friends - Thank you. Thank you for overlooking my gigantic idiotic tendencies and bad decision making skills. I'm better now.
Soooo, the EYE's have it. The saga continues.
My FIRST Eye Doctor appt was a few weeks ago. This is what happened:
- Exam = really bad eyes.
- Contact Prescription = -13 for the left and -11 for the right.
- Glasses Prescription = -14.75 for the left and -13 for the right.
- Am told that Acuvue 2 (the disposables I have been wearing for years and years) only goes up to -12 power. Must buy "Special Ordered" contacts now. They will get a trial pair in and I can try them out next appointment.
- Go that evening to Lenscrafters and order new glasses (see previous blog about that experience)
Fast forward a week later, I get a call "Your glasses are in." I go pick them up. Want to shoot self. Thick as hell. And still blurry vision. And cost $575. (I paid $370 out of pocket.)
Fast Forward 2 weeks later for the SECOND Eye Doctor appt. I take the glasses in for him to look at and I tell him "I still can't see too good out of them." He says "Really? That's strange. Let's examine you again." So he does another eye exam and apparently the power I was asking for last time is too much... My left eye is back at what is was before - back down to a -12. That's weird.
He also lets me try on the "Special Ordered" contacts and they are too strong as well now. Great. But I wear them home anyway - they are my "trial pair."
So he re-writes my prescription for my glasses and for the contacts. Since my power went back down to -12 in the left eye, I don't HAVE to do the "Special Ordered" contacts anymore if I don't want to. I can go back to the Acuvue 2 ones that I can get for $40 every 3 months on 1-800 contacts.com. Just for good measure, his receptionist tells me the price of the "Special Ordered" ones incase I still want to go with them... They are a measly $300 for year's supply. I proceeded to pee my pants and tell her that I'll go with the Acuvue's while I still can. She orders the Acuvues to arrive next week. Ok! See ya then!
So I go BACK to Lenscrafters and have them remake the glasses with the "new" (lower) prescription and I actually pick out different frames because frankly, those other ones looked like ASS. I pick some heavier, plastic ones that will cover up the thickness better and I also have the side of the lenses polished. That should help.
Ok - days later - glasses are in - pick them up - I like.
Monday of this week I go BACK to the Dr. for the THIRD time because they call and my new Acuvue's are in.
And here is where my idiot legacy continues...................
The receptionist hands me the Acuvue's and I sit at the little table and I take out the $300-trial-pair-that-were-too-strong and I put in the Acuvue's that are the "right" prescription.
I can't see a damn thing out of the left eye. It's like I don't even have a contact in!!!
I tell Dr. McGarry this and he looks puzzled and says "Ok, let's check this out again." So I hop in the chair and he puts that big thing on my face and I look through the lenses and do the "which is better? 1 or 2" thing for awhile and basically the result is my eyes are BACK AT THE HIGH POWER AGAIN!! DAMNIT! (Take note: my right eye is peachy keen this whole time....)
At this point, Dr. McGarry wants to shoot me in the face, I am convinced. But he's REALLY cool about it. He says that he thinks my eyes just strain so hard all the time because they are so bad that they go up and down due to exhaustion. He said that we'll split the difference and go with a -12.5. So that bumps me BACK up to the $300 contact - shit! But oh well. I'll deal. I'll just steal from Stella's piggy bank.
So, he says to go back out to the little table and take out the Acuvue's (which now are worth nothing) and put the $300-trial-pair-that-were-too-strong BACK in so he can look at them again. So I sit at the little table and take out the left Acuvue and put in the expensive contact...then I put in the expensive contact in the right eye.
And I can't see a damn thing. It's like I don't have a contact in my RIGHT eye now!!!
I fidget with it and move it around. By now I look like a raccoon with all the mascara and eyeliner that has melted off my eyelid. WTF?? So I yell, "Dr. McGarry! I can't see out of these contacts now and I was wearing them when I got here and they were fine!!" I'm all panicky. So he comes out and says "Goodness, well let's take a look!" So I hop up in the chair and he casually says "You didn't put one contact over top of the other one did you?"
Shit. Shit shit shit shit shit.
I didn't even say a word. I just got up from the chair and walked back to the little table and took out the TWO FRICKING CONTACTS out of my DAMN EYE and then came back into the exam room. He said "People do that all the time. Don't worry about it!"
I said "Thanks for trying."
So, the moral of the story is, when I see any of you people in the future, you better compliment me on my awesome glasses or my contacts (even though you can't see them) because this has been one HELL of an ordeal!!!!
And if you made it this far, I compliment YOU.
Love,
The idiot, S.T.C.

Upon further reflection...
So, in true "Let Go and Let God" fashion, I hereby announce that I am DONE with drama that is not my own. I can't rehash events "from the outside" that cause me strife.
And I will no longer watch Judge Judy in fear of seeing family members.
The end.
And now.... I don't care what anyone says, Spears has Postpartum Depression.
She's losing it. Somebody help the poor girl.

Somebody needs therapy.
Celebrity gossip juicy celebrity rumors Hollywood gossip blog from Perez Hilton
I just hope that Sean Preston and Jayden James have a big trust fund set aside for all of the future therapy they are going to have to endure if their mother does not pull herself together and get some help (and this means MORE than 24 hours of help - geez.) Granted, when I was 25 I had a pierced nose and lived in the Fan and partied with the best of them. I didn't have 2 kids. Grow up and take care of them. Having said that, I think her bald head looks better than the horse hair extentions she had and I have ALWAYS said that if I looked good bald, I would shave my head in a second. Think of the TIME I would save! But don't worry. THIS Creekmore will not be showing the scalp anytime soon.
So, HOW ARE YA? Sorry I have been MIA. Things have been rather crazy around these parts...Work has been busy. I go to work every day with a list of things I need to do...and I leave with that same list to carry over to the next day...and then work is busy again and I carry that same list home...Rince and repeat. And we all know that time stops when I get in this house at 5:30pm. From that point on, it's all about Stella and her needs. Which is fine by me!!
Let's see...the last time you heard from me was right after our Tappahannock trip to visit family. That was on a Friday - I took a vacation day to spend with all the girls. It was great! Mom rode with me and Stella and we stopped in Aylett, VA so Mom could get her hair done. (Her long-time stylist moved her Salon way out there...so when Mom goes to get her hair done, it's an event - and she usually adds a trip to Tappahannock to see family since she is so close...) ANyway, we stopped there first and then got back on the road towards Tapp for lunch. For some reason, Stella was pretty fussy (tired, I guess) the whole ride and the ONLY way she would not cry is if Mom sang "Jingle Bells." Over and over. For 20 minutes. GOOD. GOD. I can't believe my head didn't explode because it was close... So if anyone saw a white Mazda Tribute done about 90 through town towards Lowery's restaurant, that was me and now you understand why.
On Saturday, Stella stayed with Granny and Grandpa ALL NIGHT! The Thaxtons came over to hang out with Mom and Dad and they all ordered pizza and played with the grandkid. They had a good time and Stella did great.
Toby and I had reservations at Ipanema Grill at 6pm. We got there around 5:40 or so and they went ahead and sat us. This restaurant is not typical in that you go to a vegetable bar for your "sides" - and it's all brazillian inspired food. Black beans and rice are the only things I recognize. I eat it all, have no idea what it is, but it's delicious!! Each table has a sign on it with red on one side and green on the other. You turn it to green when you want them to bring on the meat!! Men walk around with 14 different kinds of grilled meat on skewers and they slice off a piece for you. You turn the sign to red when you need a break...and back to green when you are ready again. We ate dinner and chatted...it was weird to not have Stella with us!! Both of us said "I miss Stella" at the same time. Anyway, we paid and went out to the car to leave and I turned on the ignition and the clock came on and it said 6:18.
We. Are. Pathetic.
So we ended up going to Borders and just prowled around the books and music for an hour or so. That's always nice to do.... Then we got home around 7:30 and Toby had to threaten me NOT to go next door. I wanted to go visit with everyone! But I didn't. Toby and I went out to the garage, turned the heat on, and played about 5 games of pool - uninterrupted and no guilt feelings for leaving a sleeping baby inside for 3 minutes! It was really nice. I even drank a corona with lime. WOO HOO PARTY PEOPLE!!
It was a very nice Valentine's/2nd Anniversary celebration for the two of us.
This week was uneventful until Thursday - but I'll wait to talk about that until another day. :) (wink, wink) hehe! SUSPENSE!
I did have another eye doctor appointment to pick up my SUPER-POWERED CONTACT LENSES. I have been wearing Acuvue 2 contacts for a million years and just get them off 1-800-contacts.com for about $40 every 3 months... Since my eyes got worse, Acuvue doesn't even carry the power I need so the Dr had to special order new lenses and I nearly peed my pants and passed out in the floor when the receptionist told me it would be THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS for the new lenses.
I almost told them to just go ahead and remove my eyes and put in glass ones. This is CRAP!!
So anyway, the Dr examined me again and I told him about my new THICKEST GLASSES ON THE PLANET and how I really didn't like them - I can't see good out of them AND they are ugly as hell. After this exam, he told me that my eyes were showing not as bad as last time... so my glasses and new contacts are OVER-powered a bit. Oh, THANK GOODNESS! (But only by a tad so the thickness won't really go down... Bummer.) Anyway, the good news is since the power is down, Acuvue DOES carry that power - it's the highest one so if they ever get worse again, hello $300 lenses. But for now, I am safe.
SO, the THICKEST GLASSES EVER came from Lenscrafters. They were nearly $700. Yeah, go ahead and pick your jaw up off the floor.
Saturday, Mom and I went to a baby shower and then to Costco...where I checked out the Optical Department and DAMN!! Don't EVER buy glasses anywhere else!! I found some awesome frames for over $100 less than the shit frames I got from Lenscrafters - and the actual lenses are going to be 50% LESS than the ones at Lenscrafters - and lighter and THINNER!!
The back of my Lenscrafters receipt says "We want you to be happy with your glasses. If you aren't, return them within 30 days and get your money back."
I am on vacation today (Yay for Presidents!) so Stella and I are heading back over to Costco with my new prescription and I am ordering these new glasses. As soon as these puppies come in, I am going to Lenscrafters and returning these "ashtrays in a brown frame" and getting my $700 back.
Life is good!!

Major Award
I swear. I went to the eye doctor 2 weeks ago because all of a sudden, I can't see. Granted, I had just been reordering my contacts off of 1-800-contacts.com for about 3 years now and had not been keeping up with my yearly check-ups... So I went to a new Dr and got a new contact prescription (They still aren't in yet...) And a new Glasses prescription. He said that my eyes had gotten a little bit worse.
The night of my exam, Toby and I went to Lenscrafters to pick out new frames. (Note to self: Next time, don't take the husband who could care less...take the Gay boyfriend who will give fabulous style advice. Denny! Put it on your calendar for this time next year.) So anyway, we get to bickering in Lenscrafters because I am trying on frames and can't see until I am 1 centimeter from the mirror so I ask:
How do these look?
Toby: Fine
No, really, do you like them?
Toby: I said they look good! Yes. I like them.
Do they really look good?
Toby: GOD!
**Repeat 85 times with different frames**
So basically I end up with a pair that looks exactly the same as the ones I had before. Whatever.
I give the frames and my written prescription to the girl who is going to put my order in the computer and she looks at my prescription and...GASPED. She actually gasped. It's bad people.
So TWO WEEKS LATER (It took Lenscrafters - the "glasses ready in an hour" people - TWO WEEKS to CRAFT these suckers.
I just went on my lunch break to pick them up and DAMN.
They are like taking 2 glass ashtrays off of a table at the local diner and putting some brown frames around them and wearing them on my face. I'm afraid if the sun hits them in the right spot, it'll start fires in my eyeballs.
And just for those of you who don't believe me, I will take a picture of them and posting it right here in this spot:

In other news, there really isn't any! ha!
1. Stella's got a tooth coming in on the bottom. Right now it looks like a tiny white dot.
2. I am taking off work tomorrow to go to Tappahannock with the ladies (Mom, Stella, Mimi, Nancy, Sunah) to go visit the ladies (Amy, Barbara, Jean, etc) and I'm so excited!
3. This is our 2-year Anniversary weekend and Stella is staying with Grandma and Grandpa on Saturday night. Toby and I have reservations at Ipanema Grill and are going to see a movie if I can stay awake past 8:30 pm - but I ain't making no promises.
4. I'm having a hell of a time getting all the paperwork I need to get our taxes done. Our realtor sent us someone elses Closing Statement. GREAT. That helps me NONE. We also never got the correct paperwork from the Closing Attorneys and I have had to call them and they have told me they just moved offices and all their files are in boxes...well, I don't give a crap - get to unpacking! You should have sent me the right stuff to begin with!
5. I delivered Meals on Wheels this week and it was SO COOL. We were on a route with 13 deliveries...and it was just a humbling experience and I plan to do it much more often now. It really slaps you in the face and makes you realize that complaining about thick, ashtray glasses really is the LEAST of my worries and I should count my blessings a TRILLION times a day.

Chronological Order
2. Went to bed Sunday night feeling fine. Woke up at 2am feeling like ass. Woke up again at 6am and went to get ready and nearly passed out in the bathroom floor. Got back in bed. Called work - not going. Called Mom - come get Stella. Went back to sleep until 5pm. No joke.
3. Felt better on Tuesday so I worked and then left at 2pm for a dental consultation with a new dentist. Some of you may remember the Teeth Drama From Hell that I went through a couple years ago... After going through that, and then being pregnant, I just kind of let my teeth issues rest. I recently decided to pursue it again but with a NEW doctor. (When I called to get my dental records, they said "Oh, you have been a patient here since 1980!" Yeah. I think it's time for a new set of eyes...) The new dentist, Dr. Friend, was AWESOME. We drew up a treatment plan for me that includes one implant and 4 crowns and a lot of cosmetic restructuring with my front teeth. I'm very excited.
4. Cleaned out the fridge while cooking dinner and had a huge container of leftover shredded bbq that needed to be tossed, so I put it all down the garbage disposal CORRECTLY - little bits at a time, running the water, letting it go through slowly.... all is good. Until later when running the dishwasher and it tried to drain, the kitchen sinks started backing up. Toby plunges them and the water goes back down. We will revisit this in #6.
5. Yesterday, Wednesday, I worked all day and went by Target on the way home. At the suggestion of some brilliant Moms I know, I picked up 2 pair of the Bobux/Robeez type shoes. They are little leather slippers with elastic around the top that Stella can wear over her socks so HER DAMN SOCKS WILL STOP FALLING OFF. Low and behold, they work!! And they are cute as heck! And while there, I also picked up that baby Beatles t-shirt I have been lusting after for months...on clearance for $4. YES!
6. Got home around 6pm and answered a call from Mom "Ummm, I have a Grandpa over here who has not seen a certain Grandchild in 2 days. Can we come over?" I love it! So they get ready to walk over and I am running around, tidying up, when I open the door to the mud room/laundry room and HELLO! Flooded. DAMN!
7. Instead of Grandpa getting Stella-time, he helped Toby snake drains and check out pipes and pour drano chemicals for 3 hours. God love him. Nothing worked so we need to call a plumber. But Dad said that the shredded bbq is just a coincidence and it's not my fault. I love my Dad.
8. Still have a cold so I slept with 2 rolled up tissues stuck up my nostrils. Sexy Mama!
9. 9am this morning - call a plumber and they are going to work us in today. Came into work and have been NOT working ever since....
10. Will give an update on the pipes as soon as they figure out what is wrong.
***ETA: Mom just called. The plumbers were there for over an hour. He told Mom "Ma'am, they had quite the clog!" Apparently they used 50 ft snake and that didn't get it out so they had to use some high powered blower outer thingee which finally loosened it. That COULDN'T have been the BBQ could it???? Oh well, atleast it's gone and we're free flowing again.
11. JJ - When is Molly getting here?!?!?!?!?
